ATTENTION 2007 PLAYERS OF THE YEAR 

You will be honored on July 5th at Frontier Field prior to the Red Wings - Ottawa game.  We will provide up to four tickets to each player.  Additional tickets can be purchase at the gate.  Meet at the Will Call window at 6:00 for the tickets and additional information for that night.  We ask that each player be in the stadium by 6:15 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. game. 

 

2007 PLAYER OF THE YEAr

 

Allegany County

Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg … Ingalls pitched/hit Bolivar-Richburg into the Section V Class C Championship Game.  Only a junior, she has already been named a Birds Eye Player of the Year four times … beginning when she was an eighth grader.  She won 22 games with 14 shutouts with a 0.20 ERA and 284 K’s as a pitcher this past season.  At bat she hit .400 with three home runs, and eight doubles.  She was also selected to receive the 2007 Champion of Character Award for  Allegany County.

Finger Lakes East

Div I: Erin Nargi of Victor … Nargi, a junior pitcher, had 20 wins, a 0.22 ERA,, 238 K’s in 130 innings.  This included one perfect game, one no hitter, and four one-hitters as Victor became Class A Section V Champion and beat Williamsville South to win the Far West Regional.

Div II: Courtney Lincoln of Waterloo … Lincoln, a senior catcher, hit .400 with 26 hits, 14 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 19 stolen bases during the regular season,.  Then she led Waterloo into the Class BB Section V Championship Game where her team lost to Penn Yan.  Lincoln will attend Keuka College in the fall.

Finger Lakes West

Lindsey Grace of Honeoye … A senior pitcher, Grace is a Player of the Year for the fourth straight year.  She went 20-1 with a 0.26 ERA and 244 strike outs this past season bringing her four-year varsity career record to 92-13 with 1,114 strikeouts which was second highest in Section V history..  She had, four no-hitters (15 career).  She also had a .397 batting average with 13 extra base hits.  She is looking at Caldwell University and Monroe Community College for next year. 

Genesee Region

Marci Jonathan of Elba Senior outfielder Jonathan was 48-for-88 (.545) at bat.  This included five home runs, three triples and five doubles.  She only struck out twice all year.  She went nine-for-17 in leading Elba to the Class DD Sectional and Far West Regional titles.

Livingston County

Div I: Brooke Weidman of Wayland-Cohocton … Weidman, a senior shortstop/pitcher hit .575 with 22 RBIs.  She also had a .863 slugging percentage, a .648 on base percentage and scored 34 runs.  She was 24-for-24 in stolen bases.  On the mound she was 7-2 with one save including a perfect game against Wellsville.

Div II: Claire Bennett of Caledonia-Mumford … Junior pitcher Bennett repeats as a Player of  the  Year.  She was 14-4 this season with 188 strikeouts and only 17 base on balls.  Her ERA was 1.22 with seven shutouts and one no-hitter.  As a batter she was 18-for-58 for a .310 average.

Div III: Kelly Spear of Warsaw Sophomore pitcher Spear was 19-1 this season with 185 strikeouts and a 1.33 ERA.  She had two no-hitters and one one-hitter in leading Warsaw to the Class C Sectional Championship.  As a batter she was 36-for-82 for a .439 average.  She was named as the Class C Most Valuable Player.

Monroe County

Div I:  Stacy  Kuwik of Fairport … A sophomore pitcher, Kuwik had an 11-3 record with a 0.88 ERA and 170 strikeouts.  She had four shutouts and two no-hitters.  At the plate, she hit .462 with three homeruns, one triple, eight doubles and 27 RBIs.

Div II: Jess Winkler of Greece Arcadia Winkler,  a junior pitcher,  had a 14-3 record with a 2.07 ERA and149 strikeouts.  She also hit .327 with 12 RBIs.

Div III: Leah Fedrizzi of Pittsford Sutherland … Senior pitcher Fedrizzi went 14-5 with a 0.61 ERA and 158 strikeouts. She will attend LaSalle College in Philadelphia next year.

Private-Parochial

Brianna Allen of Aquinas … Pitcher Allen was 14-4 with 147 strikeouts and 0.98 ERA.  She had two perfect games two other no-hitters, and three one-hitters.  She also hit .400 and drove home 17 runs.

Rochester League

Angela Vilavong of East … The junior pitcher in her first varsity season overcame a hearing handicap to post a 13-4 record with 144 strikeouts in 105 innings of pitching.  She also hit .558 with 19 RBIs.

Steuben County

Div I: Samantha “Sam” Jones of Addison … A senior, Jones was also a player of the year in 2006.  At bat she hit .400 with five extra base hits and 21 RBIs.  As a pitcher, she had 37 strikeouts against 15 walks and a 1.37 ERA.  She will be playing ball at Monroe Community College next year.

Div II: Autumn Stone of Bradford … A sophomore, Stone had 116 strikeouts as a pitcher.  Offensively, she batted .333 while scoring 24 runs and driving in 24.  A leadoff hitter most of the season, she reached base 39 times in 61 plate appearances.

Wayne County

Jessenia Andujar of East Rochester Sophomore catcher Andujar had an .689 batting average, .814 slugging percentage and .880 on base percentage.  This included two home runs, three triples, 12 doubles, 32 runs scored and 20 stolen bases.  She also picked 13 runners off at first and third bases and threw out nine of every 10 runners trying to steal.

Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg … Ingalls, a junior pitcher and multi-winner of this award, won two sectional games last week over Geneseo and Naples.  Her seasonal batting average has hovered at or about .500.

Lindsey Grace of Honeoye … A senior pitcher, Grace beat Bishop Kearney allowing only two-hits, and striking out 12.  In that game she had a single, a double, and a triple in three at bats.  Then she lost 1-0 in nine innings to Addison allowing only two hits and striking out 16. 

Genesee Region

Mary Bostwick of Oakfield-Alabama … Pitcher Bostwick gave up only five hits and no earned runs while striking out 23 over two sectional games.  At bat she was eight-for-eight with two doubles, five runs scored and six RBIs.

Div I: :  JoJo Dzieiski of Rush Henrietta … Dzieiski, a sophomore first baseman, was three-for-four with two RBIs in a quarterfinal win over Spencerport.

DIV II: Anna Dobrzynski of Pittsford Sutherland … Dobrzynski, a junior outfielder, was four-for-four in a win over School of the Arts and one-for-three with a triple and two RBIs in a win over Mercy.

Div III: Leah Fedrizzi of Pittsford-Sutherland … Fedrizzi, a senior pitcher, hurled five innings in a perfect game with 11 strikeouts against School of the Arts and then pitched a two-hitter against Mercy with 10 strikeouts and two unearned runs.

Ashly Nowak of Mercy … Junior shortstop Nowak went five-for-seven with eight RBIs, two doubles and four stolen bases in a sectional win over East Irondequoit and a 3-2 loss to Pittsford-Sutherland.

Steuben County

Sam Jones  of Addison … Senior pitcher Jones had a two-hitter against East Rochester also going three-for-four at the plate.  She struck out six and hurled a six-hitter in a semi-final sectional 1-0 victory over Honeoye.

Wayne County

Angelica Valino of Gananda … Valino, a freshman shortstop, was one-for-three with a double, two RBIs and a run scored in a win over Alexander.  Then she went two-for-five with four RBIs in a win over Bloomfield.

Allegany County

Div I:  Brianna Perkins of Bolivar-Richburg … Perkins, a freshman centerfielder/catcher, was eight-for-13 with three doubles, 10 RBIs and two stolen bases.  She also had eight putouts.

Div II:  Ashley Farrell of Scio … Farrell, a junior catcher, was 10-for-13 with a triple, two doubles, and 12 RBIs while scoring six runs.

City-Catholic

Ebony Albritton of Marshall and Carolina Molina of MarshallAlbritton, a senior pitcher, had 34 strikeouts over five games.  She also swiped 19 bases while batting .462.  Molina, a senior second baseman, had a .778 batting average with six RBIs, five runs scored and five stolen bases.  She played a key role in leading Marshall to the City League Tournament Championship.

Finger Lakes East

Megan Foster of Penn Yan … Foster, a junior first baseman, hit .429 last week with two doubles.  She had no errors in the field.

Finger Lakes West

Alyson Case of Naples … A junior shortstop, Case was nine-for-12 with a home run, two triples, two doubles, and four single as her team went 4-0.  She also pilfered four bases and had five RBIs

Genesee Region

Jenny Cole of Kendall … Cole had eight hits in 15 at bats with two home runs, a triple, and a double helping her team to three wins in four games.

Livingston County

Div I:  Caleigh Diesenberg of Avon  … Catcher Diesenberg hit .565 (13-for-23) last week including two triples, five doubles, and five RBIs while scoring 10 runs and swiping five bases. She also threw out two runners trying to steal.

Div II:  Megan Kerr of Hornell … Pitcher Kerr, hurled two shut outs last week.  Against Livonia she didn’t allow a hit until the 12th inning.  She only allowed two hits against Dansville.  At bat she was eight-for-13 with a double and six RBIs.

Monroe County

Div I:  Michelle Mastrodonato of Webster Schroeder … Mastrodonato, a senior left fielder, was six-for-10 in her team’s four wins last week.  She had two home runs, three doubles and six RBIs.  This included the game-tying home run against Rush Henrietta.

Div II:  Nina  Finadach of Rush Henrietta … Finadach, a senior third baseman, batted.636 this  past week, scoring  seven runs with 11 RBIs, three doubles, three triples and a home run in helping her team go 3-2.

Div III:  Kayla Moss of Webster Thomas … Moss, a senior pitcher, posted four wins over Bolivar-Richburg, Hornell, Hilton and Greece Arcadia.  She gave up only three earned runs and had an ERA of 0.64.  She helped her team clinch a tie for the Monroe county Division II title and Class AA number one seed in the Sectional Tournament.

Jessica Stahl of Aquinas … Junior third baseman Stahl went six-for-10 last week. She was three-for-five and drove in the only run for Aquinas in a 6-1, 11-inning loss to Victor.  She was also three-for-five with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs in a win over Finney.  She had five put outs and five assists in both games

Steuben County

Div I: Erin Crandall of Alfred-Almond … Senior pitcher Crandall hurled 20 innings last week, recording 23 strikeouts and eight walks.  On defense, she had eight putouts and five assists with only one error.  On offense, she had five base hits, including two doubles and a run scored.

Div II: Stephanie New of Canaseraga … A junior pitcher, New had a big week offensively last week, going 11 for 13 with two doubles and four RBIs.  On defense, she recorded seven putouts and 12 assists with no errors.

Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg … Ingalls, a junior pitcher and multi-winner of this award, won four more games last week. In the four games, she gave up only five hits and didn’t walk anyone. She struck out 46. She also had three hits including a grand slam home run.

Div I: Erin Nargi of Victor … Nargi, a junior pitcher, was 3-0 last week with a perfect game and two one-hitters. She did not allow a run in the three games.

Jessica Herbst of Naples and Alyssa Liberatore of DeSales … Herbst, a junior pitcher, went 3-1 the week of 5/7 with her only loss coming at the hands of undefeated Honeoye. She also threw her first career no-hitter. At bat she was 10-for-17 with a grand slam, three doubles and nine RBI’s.

Liberatore, a junior pitcher, was 5-0 last week, with 30 strike outs and a 1.80 ERA. She was also eight-for-18 at the plate with a triple, three doubles, and six RBI’s.

Div I: Brooke Weidman and Morgan Kuhn of Wayland-Cohocton …

Senior pitcher/shortstop Weidman, hurled a perfect game against Wellsville. Offensively she batted .500 for the week with two triples, four RBI’s and three runs scored.  Junior pitcher/third baseman Kuhn threw her second no-hitter of the year versus Livonia and then threw a two-hitter against Honeoye Falls-Lima. She also batted .400.

Div II: Marcie Mallaber of Keshequa … Third baseman Mallaber hit .565 last week including three triples, a double, a seven RBI’s while scoring 12 runs as Keshequa beat Avon, Geneseo Pavilion, East and the School of the Arts. She was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Avon Tournament and was crowned home-run derby champion.

Monroe County

Div I: Alissa Dixon of Webster Schroeder and Kelly Bartell of Churchville-Chili … Dixon, a seventh-grade pitcher, went 4-1 last week with a shutout and 55 strikeouts. She gave up only two earned runs and 14 hits in 35 innings while beating Rush-Henrietta, Mercy, Penfield and Fairport.  Bartell, a junior catcher/outfielder, went 10-for-22 with four walks and nine stolen bases. She played every inning as her team played eight games in five days.

Div II: Megan Dunham of Webster Thomas  Dunham, a senior infielder, led her team to three wins last week going eight-for-nine with three doubles and seven RBI’s. She also had six putouts and seven assists with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Div III: Megan Coffey of Greece Odyssey … Coffey, a freshman pitcher, had three complete games last week with 25 strikeouts, no walks, no earned runs while allowing only nine hits. She has led Greece Odyssey to an 8-5 record to date, the first winning record in school history.

Brianna Allen of Aquinas  Junior pitcher Allen went 3-0 last week with wins over Geneva, Newark and Nazareth. This included a perfect game against Geneva with seven strikeouts, a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts against Newark and a five-hit, one run game against Nazareth.

Steuben County

Div I: Angie Holden of Addison … Third baseman Holden went six-for-nine with a home run, two triples and a double along with three RBI’s. Overall she is hitting .429 to date.

Div II: Alicia McFarland and Alison Cagle of  Avoca …     A shortstop, McFarland went five-for-seven with a triple and five runs scored.  A second baseman, Cagle went seven-for-12, all singles, while scoring six runs.

Wayne County

Myrrah Dubey of North Rose-Wolcott … Dubey, a senior catcher/outfielder went 10-for-14 with a home run, a triple, a double, four runs scored and five RBI’s. She also made a phenomenal diving catch in center field

Div I: Aimee Sisson of Bolivar-Richburg … Sisson, a junior catcher, went four-for-six with two home runs, three walks and nine RBIs.

Div II: Georgia Buchholz of Andover Buckholz, a senior shortstop, went six-for-ten last week with a home run and four doubles.

City-Catholic

Angela Vilavong of East High … Vilavong, a junior pitcher, had 71 strikeouts in eight games while hitting .473.

Finger Lakes East

Div I: Kaitlin Dolan of Victor … Dolan, a senior second baseman, was 12-for-19 over five games last week with a homerun and two doubles.

Div II: Kristin Tuttle of Mynderse … Tuttle, a sophomore shortstop, batted .450 with nine hits. She hit the game-winning home run against Geneva in the bottom of the seventh.

Marci Jonathan of Elba Senior centerfielder Jonathan went 14-for-17 (.824) at bat last week. This included a home run, a triple, a double and eight runs scored.

Livingston County

Div I: Claire Bennett of Caledonia-Mumford and Kelly Spear of Warsaw Pitcher Bennett hurled a shutout on four straight days highlighted by a no-hitter on the fourth day against LeRoy. Her wins were 3-0 over Avon, 10-0 over Letchworth, 10-0 over Pavilion and 18-0 over LeRoy. She also went five-for-10 at bat.  Pitcher Spear threw her first career no-hitter against Pavilion, striking out 16 with no walks. She went 3-0 last week moving her record to 7-0. At the plate she went five-for-ten with two triples and a double.

Div II: Jessica Butterbrodt of Livonia … Junior captain catcher Butterbrodt went seven-for-13 in four games last week with a triple, a double, five RBIs, four stolen bases and eight runs scored. Livonia won all four games.

Monroe County

Div I: Amanda Pratt of Rush-Henrietta … Pratt, a junior shortstop, batted .545 over three games with five runs scored. She drove in the winning run against Brockport with a bases clearing triple.

Div II: Jackie Russell of Greece Athena and Jess Winkler of Greece Arcadia 

Russell, a junior catcher, went 10-for-14 last week with nine runs scored and seven runs driven in. She also walked eight times giving her an .818 on-base percentage.  Winkler, a junior pitcher, won three league games to remain undefeated in league play. Overall she pitched 29 innings, striking out 38 with a 2.41 ERA.

Div III: Kasey Pollot of Pittsford Sutherland … Pollot, a freshman shortstop, had five hits including a home run and three RBIs in wins over Churchville-Chili and Batavia.

Cara DiMartino of Northstar Christian … Sophomore pitcher DiMartino went 3-0 last week with two one-hit shut outs and 38 strikeouts.

Steuben County

Div I: Jessica Strope of Addison and Ashley Ahearn of Canisteo-Greenwood …

Left fielder Strope is leading her team in hitting (through 4/30) at .517 with a .666 on-base percentage.  Senior shortstop Ahearn went three-for-seven last week and had four diving stops/catches which greatly affected the outcome of her team’s games.

Div II: Autumn Stone and Julianna Keefer, both from Bradford High … A sophomore pitcher, Stone had two wins the week of 4/30 striking out 21. She also hit .333 with a .500 on-base percentage.  Senior shortstop Keefer had six consecutive base hits last week ending up eight-for-12. She drove in six runs while scoring five herself. She also had four stolen bases.

Wayne County

Kaylee Quigley of Gananda … Quigley, a freshman pitcher, tossed three wins including a one-hitter and a two-hitter while averaging 13 strikeouts. She also hit .300.

Allegany County

Div I: Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg … Ingalls, a junior pitcher and multi-winner  of  this award, went 3-0 last week including a perfect game and only two hits in the other games.  She struck out 37 batters and didn’t walk anyone.  At bat she was five-for-12 with a home run, double and eight RBIs.

Div II: Cortney Kane of Friendship … Kane, a senior pitcher, went 2-1 last week including a no-hitter and 25 strikeouts.  She also went two-for-five at bat with two doubles, four runs scored, and three RBIs.

Finger Lakes East

Div I: Jessica Notebart of Geneva … Notebart, a senior shortstop, was 10-for-15 last week with two doubles and two RBIs.

Div II: Kate Black of Waterloo … Black, a junior shortstop, batted .450 with two doubles and seven RBIs last week.

Finger Lakes West

Danielle Sage of Oakfield-Alabama … Catcher Sage batted .643 last week with a home run, triple and two doubles. She scored the only run in a 1-0 win over Elba.  She also threw out five of seven players trying to steal.

Livingston County

Div I: Sarah Dieter of Livonia … Senior Captain Dieter, a centerfielder, was two-for-four with three runs scored in a 15-0 win over Dansville and two-for-three with one run scored in a 5-0 win over Eastridge.

Div II: Hannah Norton of Pavilion … Junior pitcher Norton hurled a seven-inning one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a win over Keshequa and a seven-inning one-hitter with 16 strikeouts in a win over York.  Against Kesheque she was three-for-four with two runs scored and an RBI.  Against York she was three-for-five with a grand slam, six RBIs and three runs scored.

Monroe County

Div I: Katie Dixon of Webster SchroederDixon, a junior shortstop, was four-for-10 last week with five walks, four stolen bases, eight runs scored and two RBIs.  She also had a game-tying home run against Webster Thomas.

Div II: Jess Winkler of Greece Arcadia … Winkler, a junior pitcher, repeats as a player of the week.  She had three complete game victories versus division opponents this past week.  She allowed only one earned run in 22 innings with 33 strikeouts.  She also batted .333.

Div III: Kayla Moss of Webster Thomas … Moss, a junior pitcher, had three victories.  She held Rush Henrietta to only one hit and had a shutout over Spencerport.

Ashley Nowak of Our Lady of Mercy … Third baseman Nowak was five-for-12 with a home run, triple and three singles.  She also had three RBIs, five stolen bases and four runs scored.  Defensively she had 10 put outs in 12 attempts.

Bethany Redder of Williamson … Redder, a junior outfielder/second baseman, hit .445 with two doubles and five RBIs.  She drove in four runs including the winning two in the top of the eighth in a 7-5, eight-inning victory over Sodus.

Kirstyn Manning of Scio … Manning, a junior  pitcher, was 2-0 last week. She struck out 19 and gave up only  seven hits in those games. At bat she was five-for-nine with a home  run, a triple, two doubles, and three RBI’s.

Finger Lakes East

Division I: Marissa Bunce of Newark … Bunce, a sophomore first baseman/catcher, hit .450, scoring four runs and pilfering three bases last  week

Division II: Tanya Fedeshyn of Waterloo  Fedeshyn, a sophomore pitcher, combined for a no-hitter against  Palmyra-Macedon; struck out nine while going two-for-three with a  triple and three RBI’s against Penn Yan; fanned eight against  Webster Schroeder; and struck out seven against Webster Thomas.

Finger Lakes West

Lindsey Grace of Honeoye … Grace, a senior  pitcher and a 2006 Player of the Year, threw three shutouts last  week including a no-hitter, a one-hitter and a three-hitter. She  struck out 35 batters in 10 innings. She was also five-for-10 at  the plate with two triples and a double.

Genesee Region

Christian Johnson of Pembroke … Johnson had a great  day at the plate against Kendall going three-for-four with a  single, double and triple.

Livingston County

Division I:  Kenzie Welch of Honeoye Falls-Lima … Senior shortstop Welch led

HF-L to victories over Bath and Pittsford- Sutherland.  She also made several key defensive plays in an extra  inning loss to Canandaigua. In three games she hit .454 with a  triple, five runs scored, four RBI’s and three stolen bases.

Division II: Chelsea Anderson of Caledonia-Mumford … First baseman Anderson was four-for-eight with four runs scored, a double  and a triple in two wins over Palmyra-Macedon and Keshequa.

Monroe County

Division I: Stacy Kruwik of Fairport … Kruwik, a  sophomore pitcher, hurled a 13-strikeout no hitter against  Brockport. She also went three-for-five at bat including a three- run homer.

Division II: Jess Winkler of Greece Arcadia and  Whitney Rodak of Spencerport

Winkler, a junior pitcher, pitched two complete game wins with  19 strikeouts and a 1.00 ERA. Further she was two-for-six at the  plate with a single, double and two RBI’s.

Rodak, a sophomore shortstop, batted .444 with three extra  base hits, four RBI’s and four runs scored last week. So far, she  has a .458 batting average on the season.

Division III: Leah Fedrizzi of Pittsford Sutherland    Fedrizzi, a senior pitcher, completed 2 two-hit shutouts. She  struck out a total of 13 in wins against Brighton and Greece Athena.

Brianna Allen of Aquinas … Allen, a  junior pitcher, hurled a 16-0 no-hitter against Bishop Kearney and  a 12-0 perfect game with 13 strikeouts against Palmyra-Macedon.  Against the Red Raiders she also went four-for-five at the plate  with three RBI’s.

Cici Failing of Campbell-Savona … Failing, a  sophomore pitcher, gave up only three earned runs in 12 innings of  work while batting .400.

Wayne County

Laura Maddock of Lyons … Maddock, a freshman pitcher,  threw a two-hitter against North Rose-Wolcott with 13 strikeouts.  She also had seven strikeouts against Williamson while going one- for-two at bat with  an RBI as Lyons beat Williamson 5-4 in an early  season match up of title contenders.

Amiee Sisson of Bolivar-Richburg … Sisson, a junior catcher, was six for ten last week with a double, triple and seven RBI’s.  She also had three putouts with seven assists and has thrown out six of seven runners trying to steal.  Further, she has picked a girl off first base.  Bolivar-Richburg moved to 4-0 last week.

Division I: Margaret Scott of Canandaigua … Scott, a senior, pitched her team to a 6-0 win over Oak Hill, WV in the Grandstand Softball Classic in Myrtle Beach.  She struck out 16 while allowing only five hits and didn’t walk anyone.

Division II: Amanda Mosich of Penn Yan … Mosich, a junior pitcher, starred as a batter in the Myrtle Beach Grandstand Softball Classic.  Over five games she was nine-for-13 with three doubles and triple.

Finger Lakes West

Aubrey Bodary of Harley Allendale-Columbia … Bodary was eight-for-ten with two doubles and 5 RBIs as her team posted wins over Dundee and C.G. Finney.

Livingston County

Division I: Brittany Lillie of Honeoye Falls-Lima and Kayla Hoppough of Livonia   Pitcher Lillie led HF-L to a 3-1 victory over Batavia.  In addition to striking out 11 and walking only two batters, she also tied the game in  the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single.  It was her first game back after ACL surgery last November.   Third baseman Hoppough made two key defensive plays to keep Greece Odyssey from scoring in a 4-2 win over Livonia.  She also went two-for-three with two RBI’s against Letchworth and had a key hit in her team’s third win of the season without a loss against Eastridge.

Division II: Kelly Spear of Warsaw … Pitcher Spear gave up only two earned runs in a seven-hit, eight-strike out performance in 11-4 win over Hornell.  Then gave up  no earned runs in a three-hit, 10-strike out performance in a 13-5 win over Northstar.

Monroe County

Division I:  Kristin Enos of Rush Henrietta … Enos, a senior pitcher, went 2-2 on the mound striking out 22 and allowing only seven earned runs over the last three games of a tournament in South Carolina.  She was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Division II:  Christina Antonelli of Spencerport   Antonelli, a junior catcher, was three-for-three with a double, two RBI’s and two runs scored against Brockport.

Division III:  Leah Fedrizzi of Pittsford Sutherland … Fedrizzi, a senior pitcher, hurled two complete-game victories while allowing only one earned run and striking out 10 at a softball tournament in South Carolina.

Brianna Allen of Aquinas … Allen, a junior pitcher, hurled Aquinas to a 2-1 win  over Waterloo.  She pitched all 10 innings in the extra-inning game, striking out eight and allowing only two hits.  She was also on base three times in four plate appearances.

2006 PLAYER OF THE YEAr

 

Allegany County

Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg.  Ingalls pitched/hit Bolivar-Richburg to the Class C State Title.  Only a sophomore, she has already been named a Birds Eye Player of the Year three times … beginning when she was an eighth grader.  She was an amazing 28-0 as a pitcher this past season with over 350 strikeouts including 17 in one extra-inning game.  At bat she had 56 hits in 105 plate appearances (.533) including seven home runs and 55 RBI.

Finger Lakes East

Division I:  Lisa Nazarenko of Victor.  Nazarenko, a senior, was 18-3 this past year with 0.53 ERA, 167 strikeouts, and only nine walks in 131 innings.  At the plate, she hit .288 with two home run, two triples, and seven doubles.  A Birds Eye Player of the Year last year as well, she had a two-year 35-5 pitching record.

Division II:  Karen Folts of Penn Yan.  After sitting out last year with a knee injury, senior shortstop Folts bounced back by hitting .426 with four homeruns, four triples and nine doubles.  She will attend Alfred University in the fall.

Finger Lakes West

Lindsey Grace of Honeoye and Morgan Shepard of Bloomfield.  A junior pitcher, Grace is a Player of the Year for the third straight year.  She went 24-3 with a 0.77 ERA this past season bringing her three-year varsity career record to 72-12.  She had 10 shutouts (26 career), four no-hitters (11 career) and 341 strikeouts (884 career).  She also had a .467 batting average.  A senior pitcher, Shepard had a 22-3 record with 235 strike outs, three no hitters, five one hitters and a 0.54 ERA.  At bat she had a .512 average with one home run, eight triples, five doubles, 41 runs scored and 41 RBI.  She is considering Murray State, Muskingum and American International.

Genesee Region

Chelsey Cary of Pembroke.  Gary had a 16-1 regular season record with seven shutouts and one no-hitter.  She also played as catcher, shortstop. third baseman and second baseman.  In all, she hit .413, belted eight doubles and scored 30 runs.  She was the winning pitcher and MVP in leading Pembroke to the Section V Class B Championship.

Livingston County

Division I:  Samantha “Sam” Rollins of Hornell.  Rollins, a senior shortstop/pitcher, repeats as a Player of the Year.  She hit .458 with two homeruns, five triples, six doubles, 24 runs scored, 15 RBI while swiping 13 bases.  Her fielding percentage was .882 at shortstop.  A team captain, she will attend Monroe Community College in the fall.

Division II:  Claire Bennett of Caledonia-Mumford.  Sophomore pitcher Bennett led Caledonia-Mumford to the Section V Class C title.  She then lost a duel with Bolivar-Richburg’s Jordan Ingalls in the Class C state qualifier.  She ended 19-3 on the year with 147 1/3 innings pitched, 248 strikeouts and a 1.04 ERA.  She walked only 9 batters all year.  She also hit .324 with five doubles and 10 RBI.

Monroe County

Division  I:  Stephanie Blood of Webster Schroeder.  A senior shortstop who also filled in as a pitcher.  She made 80 plate appearances (a Section V record) with 30 hits (.370) and five walks.  She had a home run, two triples and two doubles.  In the field she had 55 assists with a fielding percentage of .950.  On the mound she was 11-8 with 15 complete games. She will be attending SUNY Plattsburgh in the fall and plans to major in business.

Division  II:  Bailey Phillips of Greece Arcadia.  Phllips had a regular season record of 12-3 with a 0.85 ERA and104 strikeouts.  She helped Arcadia reach the state tournament championship.  Her .377 batting average was the best on the team.  She will attend LeMoyne next year on a softball and academic scholarship.  A National Honor Society member, she was named the Principals Award Scholar/Athlete by her school.

Division  III:  Olivia  Placentini of East Irondequoit.  Senior pitcher Placentini repeats as a Player of the Year.  She ended with 841 career strikeouts.  As a hitter her batting average was .667 for the year ranking her in second place in Section V history.  Her on base percentage was .817.  She will attend Hartford University in the fall on a softball scholarship.

Private-Parochial

Joanna Kurycki of Mercy.  Senior pitcher Kurycki is selected for the third straight year.  She won 19 games this past year as Mercy beat Victor for the Section V Class A title.  This brought her three-year win total to 64.  She had two no-hitters, and six shutouts.  She also hit .408 leading off for Mercy with two home runs, two triples, 11 doubles and 26 RBI.  She has accepted a softball scholarship with Division I University of North Florida.

Rochester League

Ebony Albritton of Marshall.  The junior pitcher led her team to this year’s Rochester League Softball Championship.  She only allowed 20 runs in 14 games with 106 strikeouts.  An honor roll student her plans call for attending New York University to study law.

Steuben County

Samantha “Sam” Jones of Addison.  A junior, Jones played second base and pitched.  At bat she hit .483 with four triples, four doubles, 26 runs scored, 12 RBI and 14 stolen bases.  She committed only one error all season.  As a pitcher, she had 65 strikeouts against 23 walks and a 2.63 ERA.  ”Sam stepped up and was a leader on and off the field this year,” noted coach Kim Driskall.

Wayne County

Leah Cox of Williamson.  Senior pitcher Cox tossed 149 innings  had 224 strikeouts while walking only 37.  She had one no-hitter and struck out a school record 21 batters in another 11-inning victory.  She also struck out at least 10 batters in 10 different games.  Her ERA for the year was 1.12.  As a hitter, she led the team in total hits, runs scored and RBI while batting .315.  She will attend the University of Buffalo next year.

Brittany White of Bloomfield.  Sophomore centerfielder White went seven-for-12 in three sectional games last week.  She had three RBI and scored five runs including the winning marker in a 1-0 win over Warsaw.

Chelsey Carey of Pembroke.  Garey, a pitcher, allowed only three hits and didn’t walk anybody while striking out 11 against Wellsville.

Division I:  Becky Chatt of Leroy.  Pitcher Chatt led Leroy to a 3-0 sectional victory over Williamson.  In addition to 13 strikeouts she also had a two-run triple.

Division II:  Brittney Wilson of Wayland-Cohocton.  Pitcher Wilson threw a two-hit shutout in the sectional qurterfinals against Bath-Haverling, striking out five.

Monroe County

Division I:  Stephanie Blood of Webster Schroeder and Stacy Kuwik of Fairport.  Blood, a senior pitcher, hurled a two-hitter against Brockport.   At bat she was five-for-seven with a triple, double, walk, three RBI, two stolen bases and three runs scored.  Kuwik, a freshman pitcher, had a three-hitter against Webster Schroeder with 13 strikeouts.  She was also two-for-three at bat with two RBI.

Division II:  Bailey Phillips of Greece Arcadia.  Phillips, a senior pitcher had two wins against Greece Olympia and Hilton in the sectionals while allowing only one hit by Arcadia and two hits by Hilton.  She had 13 strikeouts over the two games and allowed only one run to  score.

Division  III:  Amanda Page of Batavia and Kasey Pollot of Pittsford-Sutherland.  Page, a senior pitcher, hit .750 last week with a home run and a triple.

Pollot, a senior shortstop, was three-for-three against Honeoye Falls-Lima with two RBI including the winning run.  Then she went two-for-three against Pittsford-Mendon with a double and one RBI including the winning run.

Division II:  Liz Donk of Midlakes.  Donk, a junior first baseman/pitcher, went five-for-nine last week with a triple and two doubles while playing errorless ball.

Lindsey Grace of Honeoye.  Junior pitcher Grace went 3-0 last week with two shutouts, two one-hitters, 42 Ks and two walks.  She set the Section V strike out record for a season with 303.

Division I:  Chelsea Walkland of Rush Henrietta and Bethany Dragert of Brockport.  Walkland, a senior utility player, hit .500 last week with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored.  Dragert, a senior pitcher, led Brockport to two wins last week … both compete games.   She had a 2.00 ERA.

Division II:  Lisa Curtis of Greece Arcadia.  Curtis, a senior shortstop, was three-for-five with two walks, two RBI and two stolen bases in wins over Greece Athena and Webster Thomas which clinched the league title.

Division III:  Kara Kempski of Pittsford Mendon.  Kempski, a senior first baseman, was eight-for-10 in three games this past week with six RBI.  She finished the regular season hitting .500.

Kari Burlee of Sodus and Gairlin Flint of Gananda.  Burlee, a senior first baseman/third baseman was 11-for-13 with eight RBI in three games.  She hit for the “cycle” against Clyde-Savannah with two singles, a double, a triple and a home run.

Flint, a senior catcher, had a bases loaded single in the bottom of the seventh to beat Williamson 4-3 and went four-for-five with a double and two RBI against Sodus.

Chelsea Presutti of Genesee Valley.  Presutti, a senior catcher, batted .705 last week with a triple, two doubles and six RBI.  She also threw out five runners trying to steal as Genesee Valley won five of six games.

Kelly Maloney of Honeoye.  Maloney, a junior third baseman, went 8-for-12.   She had a game-winning two-run home run vs. Romulus as well as game-winning hits vs. Bloomfield and South Seneca.

Genesee Region

Jenny Cole of Kendall.  Pitcher Cole went 3-1 on the mound, giving only 10 hits over the four games, while striking out 29.  She also was eight-for-12 at the plate with a triple,  two doubles, five runs scored and two  stolen bases.

 

Livingston County

Division I:  Claire Bennett of Caledonia-Mumford.  Sophomore pitcher Bennett led Cal-Mum  to four  wins by pitching 35 1/3 innings and allowing only four runs on 16 hits with 57 K’s.  One of the four wins was no-hitter.

Division II:  Brittney Wilson of Wayne-Cohocton and Brooke Weidman of Wayne-Cohocton.  Pitcher Wilson pitched two no-hitters and combined with two others on a third three-hit shutout.  In all, she gave up only one hit over 18 innings while striking out 28.  Weldman, a second baseman/pitcher had eight hits in 11 at bats and scored four runs.  She also had seven stolen bases in seven attempts.

Monroe County

Division I:  Stephanie Blood of Webster Schroeder.  Blood, a senior pitcher, had three wins last week, all complete games.  She fanned 23 while allowing only two earned runs and 12 hits.

Division II:  Bailey Phillips of Greece Arcadia.  Phillips, a senior pitcher, hurled two one-hit victories with 18 KOs.    She was four-for nine at bat.

Division III:  Olivia Placentini of East Irondequoit-Eastridge.  Placentini, a senior pitcher, won three games including the completion of a 9-inning no-hitter with 20 strikeouts.  She also had a 13-strikeout game and an 11-strikeout game and allowed only one earned run in 22 1/3 innings.  At bat, she was six-for-eight with a home run, six RBI and five walks.

Erica Treagea of Northstar Chrisian.  Treagea, a junior catcher, went seven-for-14 with two triples, two doubles and 10 RBI.  As a catcher she helped lead her team to four wins and no losses.

Amanda Wannall of Canaseraga.  A senior shortstop, Wannall had six hits (hitting .545) including a double and two RBI.  She also made 10 putouts with six assists and no errors.

Tasha Parker of East Rochester.  Parker, a sophomore pitcher, threw her second career no-hitter with 11 strikeouts.  At the plate she had a home run, triple, double and seven RBI over three games.

Kirstyn Manning of Scio.  Manning, a sophomore pitcher went 4-0 last week with 68 strikeouts.  She also went 6-for-12 at bat with a triple and three doubles.  Named MVP of the Whitesville Tournament.

Jasmine Torres of Jefferson and Kayla Johnson of Marshall.  Torres went four-for-four in leading Jefferson to a victory over School of the Arts.  She had two triples, a double, a single, and two RBI while scoring four runs.  Johnson, a junior catcher, had five doubles, six singles and  nine  RBI  last week.  She also threw out two runners.

Finger Lakes East

Division I:  Sarah Arbogast of Newark.  Arbogast, a junior pitcher, went 5-1 last week with a no-hitter and two one-hitters.  She also batted .479 with two triples and two doubles.

Division II:  Mary Jayne of Penn Yan.  Jayne, a senior third baseman, hit .297 last week.  In the field she had 17 assists and five putouts.

Finger Lakes West

Jackie Vincent of Romulus.  Vincent, a junior shortstop, went 7-for10 with a triple, two doubles, four RBI and four runs scored.  In the field she had 19 putouts.

Genesee Region

Erika Ayers of Holley.  Pitcher Ayers helped her team go 3-0 last week by throwing a no-hitter against Notre Dame and a three-hitter against Alexander.  In her win against Wheatland-Chili, Ayers belted two home runs and had 5 RBI.

Livingston County

Division I:  Erica Shaw of Livonia.  Shortstop Shaw went six-for-eight over three games with three RBI, three stolen bases, three runs scored and two walks.

Division II:  Rachel Kanouse of Keshequa.  Pitcher Kanouse gave up only nine hits over three games (one each against Perry and Genesseo and five against Wayland-Cohocton).  At bat she was 6-for-10 for the week.

Division I:  Liz Zorn of Churchville-Chili.  Zorn, a senior leftfielder, was 9-for-16 with two home runs.  She also threw out two runners from her outfield position.

Division II:  Jackie Russell of Greece Athena and Holly Seidewand of Webster Thomas.  Russell, a senior catcher, went 10-for-19 over five games with two home runs, one double, 10 RBI and seven runs scored.  She threw out three of five runners attempting to steal.  Seidewand, a senior pitcher, had three wins with 39 strikeouts.  She also batted 8-for-13with six RBI.

Division III:  Amanda Torrey of Batavia.  Torrey, a senior pitcher, had a win last week while hitting .414.  She has an on-base percentage of .818 when leading off an inning.

Ona Halladay of Mercy.  Halladay went10-for-19 last week with two home runs helping Mercy finish the week 4-1.

Steuben County

Samantha McRae of Avoca.  A junior catcher, McRae hit .500 with three RBI last week with a triple and two doubles.  On the season she is hitting .469 with two triples, three doubles and seven RBI.

Wayne County

Megan Fralick of Red Creek and Breanna Burnette of Sodus.  Fralick, a senior pitcher, had 28 strikeouts and gave up no earned runs in three games.  She also hit .500.  Will play softball at Morrisville in the fall.  Burnette, a junior pitcher, had 32 strikeouts in four games with a 2.00 ERA.  She also hit .467 with a home run, a triple, two doubles and five RBI.

Lisa Morris of Cuba-Rushford and Cortney Kane of Friendship.  Morris, a junior centerfielder, went 6-for-8 (.750) last week with two triples.  Kane, a junior pitcher, had two wins with 26 strike outs last week.  She also went 4-for-8 (.500) at bat with two doubles, six RBI and six runs scored.

Division I:  Kaitlin Dolan of Victor.  Dolan, a junior second baseman, batted .750 over three games. She was 9-for-12 with a home run, five doubles, eight RBI and five runs scored.

Division II:  Melissa Rood of Penn Yan.  Senior pitcher Rood went 5-0 last week.  Rood, who will attend SUNY Brockport next year, had a two-hitter and a three-hitter.  In all she had 26 strike outs and walked only two.

Krista Turnbull of Geneva DeSales and Morgan Shepard of Bloomfield.  Turnbull, a senior shortstop/centerfielder, went 8-12 with two home runs, three doubles, eight runs scored and nine RBI as her team went 3-0 in California.  Shepard, a senior pitcher, was 5-0 last week with two no-hitters, a one-hitter and 46 strikeouts.  At bat, she was 11-17 (.647) with a home run, two doubles and 17 RBI.

Genesee Region

Mary Bostwick of Oakfield-Alabama  Bostwick went 4-0 on the mound last week including three one-hitters, 52 strikeouts and a 0.25 ERA. At the plate she was 13-for-16 with a home run, two triples and three doubles

Livingston County

Division I:  Kelly Spear of Warsaw.  Pitcher Spear was 4-0 with 33 strikeouts and six walks.  She gave up only one earned run in 31 innings.  Two of the games were extra-inning affairs.

Division II:  Megan Kerr of Hornell.  Pitcher Kerr pitched five games last week, throwing two shutouts including two one-hitters.    Kerr is 9-3 for the season and undefeated in LCAA.

Monroe County

Division I:  Katie Dixon of Webster Schroeder.  Dixon, a senior shortstop, was 7-for-11 with a home run, triple and two doubles.  She also had three walks and six RBI.  She has made no errors so far this year.

Division II:  Megan Dunham of Webster Thomas and Bailey Phillips of Greece Arcadia.  Dunhan, a junior second baseman drove in at least one run with every hit this past week.  This included a home run, double and single.

Phillips, a senior pitcher/center fielder, pitched 12 innings with 0.00 ERA.  At bat, she

went 6-for-11 with five RBI

Division III:  Olivia Placentini of East Irondequoit.  Placentini, a senior pitcher, combined a no-hitter against Jefferson with seven strikeouts.  She also had a no-hitter against Bishop Kearney with 12 strike outs.  In all struck out 41 batters in 25 innings and was 4-for-8 at bat with six RBI.

Joanna Kurycki of Mercy.  Kurycki pitched a two-hitter in a 6-2 win over Vestal (Section  IV) and a four-hitter in a 3-0 shutout win over league opponent Aquinas.  Offensively she had five extra-base hits including the winning home run against Aquinas.

Steuben County

Jody Ninos of Alfred-Almond and Rachel Hubbard of Canaseraga.  A senior second baseman, Ninos hit .555 with three RBI last week.  She also had five putouts, five assists and no errors.

A senior catcher, Hubbard hit .667 with a triple, home run and five RBI.  She scored five runs and caught three girls stealing.

Wayne County

Myrrah Dubey of North Rose-Wolcott.  Dubey, a junior centerfield/catcher hit .545 last week with a home run, two triples, 10 RBI, and five runs scored.  Taking over for NR-W’s injured catcher, she also threw out three of six would-be base stealers.

Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg.  Ingalls, a sophomore pitcher, is selected for second straight week.  Last week went 4-0 including 30 K’s in a double header against Dunkirk.  She also went 5-for-10 at the plate with two triples and six RBIs.

City Catholic League

Jasmine Torres of Jefferson/Franklin and Ebony Albritton of Marshall.  Torres went 3-for-3 with a home run while scoring three runs.   She also played great defense at first base as Jefferson/Franklin beat Wilson 14-5.  Junior pitcher Albritton hurled Marshall to its first victory over East in over 20 years.  She fanned six.

Finger Lakes East

Division I:  Tricia Santelli of Newark.  Santelli, a sophomore right fielder, batted .450 over five games in Myrtle Beach, FL.  In two of the games her steller defensive plays either ended the game or  kept the other team from scoring the go-ahead run.

Division II:  Karen Folts of Penn Yan.  In the Grandstand Softball Tournament in Myrtle  Beach, FL Folts was 8-for-16 with six RBIs  She  had the game winning hit against Cassadaga Valley.  Defensively, Folts had 18 assists, seven put outs and no errors.

Finger Lakes West

Emily Burgess of Lyndonville.  Pitched both games in a double header at the Alexander Tournament.  Against Baker she faced 23 batters, striking out 15, and allowed no runs.  Against Alden she faced 30 batters, striking out 10 and allowed three earned runs.  Burgess was selected Most Valuable Player.

Livingston County

Sara West of Wayland-Cohocton.  Pitcher West improved her record to 7-1 last week.  She is also hitting .615 with eight hits in 13 at bats.  Further, she has walked 13 times, has driven in 10 runners and gone 5-for-5 in stolen bases.

Monroe County

Division I:  Kristen Enos of Rush-Henrietta.  Enos, a junior pitcher, went 4-1 in Myrtle Beach with 24 strikeouts in 29 innings.  She pitched a two-hitter in Rush-Henrietta’s 1-0  victory over Kenmore East.

Division II:  Bailey Phillips of Greece Arcadia.  Phillips, a senior pitcher/center fielder, was 4-for-10 in Arcadia’s games in Florida.  She scored three runs and drove in four runs.

Steuben County

Sam Jones of Addison.  A junior pitcher, Jones has given up only six hits, walked two batters while striking out 13 so far this year.  She is also hitting .714 with one triple, one double, two RBIs and two stolen bases.

Wayne County

Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg and Kirstyn Manning of Scio.  Ingalls, a sophomore pitcher, was 4-0 last week.  She gave up only five hits while striking out 46.  She also batted .600 with six doubles one triple and two home runs.  Manning, a sophomore pitcher, was 3-0 with a .095 ERA and 29 strikeouts.  She also hit .600 with three doubles, and two triples.

City Catholic League

Ebony Albrittion of Marshall.  Junior pitcher Albrittion hurled Marshall to its first victory over East in over 20 years.  She had six strike outs.

Finger Lakes East

Division I:  Lisa Nazaranko of Victor.  As a pitcher, senior Nazaranko was 3-0 including a one-hitter against Canandaigua.  As a batter, she had the game-winning homerun against Geneva as well as two doubles.

Division II:  Tanya Fedeshyn of Waterloo.  As a pitcher, freshman Fedeshyn was 3-0 with nine strikeouts against Mynderse and Penn Yan.  As a batter, she had two  singles and a double.

Finger Lakes West

Finger Lakes West: Lindsey Grace of Honeoye.  Grace, a junior pitcher, went 4-0 with wins over  South Seneca, Marcus Whitman, Romulus  and Bloomfield.

Genesee Region

Division I:  Claire Bennett of Caledonia-Mumford.  Bennett, a sophomore pitcher, repeats as POTW.  Her pitching last week beat Letchworth 4-3, Notre Dame 11-2 and Geneseo 12-0.  In all, she pitched 18 innings, striking out 31 and giving up only four hits and no earned runs.  The Geneseo win was a no-hitter.  She also went 4-for-6 at bat with two doubles and two RBIs.

Division II:  Morgan Kuhn of Wayland  Over three games, Kuhn hit .750 (6-for-8) with four doubles, and one triple.  She also scored six runs, drove in five runs and piflered one base.

Monroe County

Division I:  Kim Edelman of Rush-Henrietta.  Edelman, a senior left fielder, went 6-for-7 with a homerun and double in wins over Webster-Schroeder and Churchville-Chili.  She also scored four runs, drove in two runs and had three stolen bases.

Division II:  Bailey Phillips of Greece Arcadia.  The senior pitcher/outfielder won one game allowing only two hits while striking out 16.  At bat she went 5-for-7 while scoring three runs and driving home one.

Division III:  Leah Fedrizzi of Pittsford-Sutherland.  A junior, Fedrizzi pitched and won three complete games.  She recorded 23 strikeouts and walked only one.

Leah Cox of Williamson.  Senior pitcher Cox went 3-0 last week including a no-hitter against Clyde-Savannah and three-hitter against Red Creek.  In all, she had 38 strikeouts.  At the plate she was 2-for–3 with a triple against North Rose-Wolcott.

Jamie Sitterly of  Honeoye.  Sitterly, a senior who plays first base, went 6-8 with six RBIs  in wins  over Red Jacket and Naples.

Genesee Region

Sarah Schwartzmeyer of Elba.  A pitcher, Schwartzmeyer tossed a no-hitter against Medina.  She also had 21 strikeouts in 13 innings over two games.  At bat, she had four hits and four RBIs.

Livingston County

Division I:  Claire Bennett of  Caledonia-Mumford.  Bennett, a sophomore pitcher, tossed a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a 7-0 win over Keshequa.

Division II:  Raquel Schubert of Livonia.  Schubert, a pitcher, allowed only two earned runs and collected 28 strikeouts in 4-0 and 8-3 wins over Wheatland-Chili and Letchworth respectively.  She also drove home two runs.

Monroe County

Division II:  Meghan Dunham of Webster Thomas.  The junior went 4-4 with three home runs, a  double and 10 RBIs in Thomas’ opening victory over Greece  Olympia.

Division III:  Olivia Piacentini of East Irondequoit-Eastridge.  Piacentini pitched three games winning two and striking out 41 batters.  At the plate she was 4-6 with a home run, five walks and four RBIs.

Steuben County

Allison Fairbrother of  Avoca.  Fairbrother, a senior first baseman, led Avoca to three victories in four games by batting .650 with three doubles, two  triples and eight RBIs.  She also had 23 putouts, three assists and no errors.

Allegany County

Jordan Ingalls, Bolivar-Richburg. Ingalls won this honor last year as an eighth grader, when she led her team to the Sectional title and to the State finals.  This year she went 19-1 (38-7 over the two years) with a 0.64 ERA and 251 strikeouts (681 over three years).  Player of the Week three times, she also hit .490 with 28 runs scored and 28 RBIs.

Finger Lakes East

Division I:  Lisa Nazarenko, Victor.  Nazarenko, a junior, was 17-2 this past year with 0.99 ERA, 197 strikeouts, and only nine walks in 127 innings.  At the plate, she hit .397 with one home run, two triples, four doubles and 23 RBIs.

Division II:  Tanya Fedeshyn, Waterloo.  This year’s Section V Class B MVP was 20-2 as a pitcher with a 1.00 ERA.  And she’s only an eighth grader.  She also hit .317 with 19 hits, 14 stolen bases and eight RBIs.

Finger Lakes West

Lindsey Grace, Honeoye.  A sophomore, Grace was a Co-Player of the Year last year as a freshman.  She went 20-4 with a .78 ERA this past season bringing her three-year varsity career record to 48-9.  She had nine shutouts (16 career), three no-hitters (seven career) and 255 strikeouts (543 career).  Helped lead her team to their second straight league title and pitched them into sectional finals before dropping a 2-1 decision to Perry in nine innings.

Genesee Region

Jessica Maurer, Pembroke.  The senior pitcher was 16-1 on the mound with her only loss coming during post-season play.  She threw two no-hitters and had two games with 17 strikeouts.  Overall, she had 187 strikeouts this year raising her career total to 567.  She also had a .549 batting average.  Ranks ninth out of 132 students in her class, she will be attending St. John Fisher this fall.

Livingston County

Division I:  Sam Rollins, Hornell.  Rollins, a junior shortstop, led the Red Raiders to 13-1 regular season record.  She had nine triples, five doubles and swiped 20 bases while hitting .570 (29/51).  She had at least one hit in 13 of 14 regular season games.  She made only four errors during the regular season at shortstop ending with a .934 fielding percentage.   She even pitched six innings in relief.  In the sectionals she hit .444 with two more triples and six more stolen bases with Hornell losing in the semifinals.

Division II:  Sarah Ellis, Perry.  On her way to Liberty University in the fall on a full softball scholarship, Ellis was 15-2 as a pitcher with four one-hit games, three two-hit games and 192 strikeouts.  Offensively Ellis hit .306 with one home run, two triples and four doubles.  She averaged 12.9 strikeouts per game over her career.  She is a four-time All League Player.

Monroe County

Division  I:  Shannon Connors, Brockport. Senior pitcher Connors had a 1.09 ERA while holding her opponent’s batting average to .185.  At bat she hit .526 with a .597 on-base percentage  This included 13 extra base hits, 15 RBIs. and 17 stolen bases.  Her fielding percentage was .947.  She will attend SUNY Plattsburgh in the fall where she will participate on the women’s hockey and softball teams.

Division  II:  Holly Seidewand Webster Thomas. A scholar athlete with a 90+ average, Seidewand, a junior, was 13-4 as  a pitcher with 123 innings pitched and 202 strikeouts.   She gave up only five earned runs for the whole year.  She hit .360 (27/75) with three home runs, 17 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

Division  III:  Olivia  Placentini East Irondequoit.  Junior pitcher Placentini had a 1.13 ERA and 182 strike outs.  As a hitter her batting average was .457 and her on-base  percentage was .693   She  also had 28 RBIs and 25 walks.

Private-Parochial

Joanna Kurycki, Mercy.  Junior pitcher Kurycki is selected for the second straight year.  She was 26-1 this past year bringing her two-year total to 45-8.  She had two no-hitters, nine one-hitters and 14 shutouts as she led Mercy to the Class A State Finals.  She also hit .385 leading off for Mercy.  Her on-base percentage was .464.

Rochester League

Rebecca Conrow, East.  The senior shortstop sometimes pitcher hit .524 last year with 53 stolen bases and 26 runs scored.  She also played volleyball and ran indoor track and was presented the Tri-Athlete Award each of the last four years at East.  Conrow is a high honor student.

Steuben County

Jenna  Dart, Addison.  A senior, Dart was 17-3.  She struck out 233 girls.  Her ERA was. 58 and she had 10 shutouts including a no-hitter in the sectional finals.  At bat she hit 6 doubles and three triples for the season.  Her on-base percentage of .370 was the best on her team.  The Class CCC Sectional Tournament MVP is planning on attending Corning Community College in the fall.

Wayne County

Kayla Yarrow, North Rose-Wolcott.  Pitcher Yarrow had 10 wins and a 2.38 ERA.  At bat she hit .498 with 32 hits including four doubles and 25 runs scored.  Her on-base percentage was .564 and she had 39 stolen bases.  Will be attending SUNY Cortland to study Sports Management in the fall.

Division I:  Samantha Case of Rush Henrietta, Amanda Streb of Brockport and  Rachel Clonick of Hilton … Senior outfielder Case batted  1.000 including  a three-run home run and  a double in R-H’s quarterfinal sectional win.  Junior Streb went four-for-four with a home run and a triple and scored three runs in Brockport’s quarterfinal win over Canandaigua.  Junior Clonick had a home run, a double, three walks and  five RBI in five  at bats in Hilton’s quarterfinal win over East.

Division II:  Holly Seidewand of Webster Thomas … The junior pitcher is selected for a second time.  She took a perfect game into the seventh inning but  settled for her fourth  no-hitter  this season in moving Webster  Thomas to the sectional semifinals.

Division III:  Vicki Brill of Pittsford SutherlandThe senior pitcher won two games last week including a two-hitter and one-hitter.  She also went six-for-nine with a double, triple and four RBI.

Brittney Wilson of Avoca … Junior pitcher Wilson is selected for the second time. She pitched a shutout and fanned 15 in Avoca’s DD quarterfinal sectional victory.  At the plate, she was three-for-four with two RBI.

Kari Burlee of Sodus … Junior second baseperson Burlee went two-for-three and moved her team-leading batting average to .518 as Sodus won its first-ever sectional game.

Allegany:  Alicia Gordan of Bolivar Richburg and Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar Richburg.  Senior shortstop Gordan, picked for second straight week, went 10-for-15 with five doubles, and four RBIs.  Ingalls, a three-time POTW selection, pitched 22 innings, allowing only three runs and seven hits while striking out 36.

Finger Lakes East

Erin Brooks of Palmyra Macedon and Courtney Lincoln from Waterloo.  Brooks went 11-for-18 last week with a home run, two triples and four doubles.  Lincoln currently is hitting .422 with 10 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

Finger Lakes West

Cheryl Austin of Wayland-Cohocton and Caitlin Dobbin of Letchworh.  Austin had three walks and a triple, while driving in two runs and scoring three runs in five at bats.  She also pitched a 10-stirkeout, three-hit shutout.  Dobbin went three-for-three with two doubles and five RBI in a 10-8 win over York.

Monroe County

Division I:  Alison Duff of Brockport.  The senior catcher went three-for-five with a double and three runs scored versus Churchville.  She finished the week with a .666 on-base percentage and helped Brockport secure a spot as Division I Co-Champions.

Division II:  Megan Shoniker of Greece Arcadia.  The sophomore third baseman went eight –for-13 with three doubles, five RBI and 2 runs scored.

Division III:  Sarah Campbell of Brighton.   The senior pitcher hurled Brighton to the Division III softball title.

Gloria Lara of School of the Arts.   A senior shortstop, Lara went five-for-nine with a home run.  She scored six runs and drove in eight runs.  Defensively, she handled 14 plays without an error.

Jen Linnan of Hammondsport.  Junior catcher Linnan hit .556 last week with two home runs, one triple, three doubles and nine RBI.  She also had two stolen bases and threw out eight runners trying to steal.  On the year she’s hitting .429.

Wayne County

Rachel Bruno of Clyde.  A senior pitcher, Bruno hit for the cycle against North Rose-Wolcott.  Her cycle also included three runs scored and three RBI.  Further, she fanned eight batters in a victory.

Megan Reeb of Pembroke.  Reeb, a senior outfielder, had two game-winning RBIs while going six–for-eight with three doubles and three singles.

Livingston County

Sam Rollins of Hornell and Megan Kerr of Hornell.  Junior Rollins went 12-for-her-last-13 at bats with three triples, two doubles, 10 runs scored, six stolen bases and six RBIs.  Sophomore Megan pitched two shutouts in four games with 18 strikeouts.  She only gave up three runs and seven hits in the four games.

Monroe County

Division II:  Stephanie Blood of Webster Schroeder.  The junior pitcher had two wins last week including the first league loss for Webster Thomas.  She gave up only one run in both games and had 11 strikeouts.

Division III:  Kara Kempski of Pittsford Mendon.  The junior first baseperson went seven-for-eight in Pittsford’s two wins in the Webster tournament.

Diviison I:  Destinee Held of Canisteo-Greenwood.  Junior third baseperson Held has had eight hits in her last seven games including six doubles and a triple.  She has not committed any errors in those seven games.

Diviison II:  Brittany Gilbert of Canaseraga.  The sophomore third baseperson hit .533 last week scoring six runs while driving in five.  She also had 12 assists with no errors.  Year-to-date, she’s hitting .462.

Wayne County

Jackie Tricarico of Lyons.  A junior shortstop, Tricarico hit .412 last week with two triples and three doubles.  She also made several outstanding defensive plays at second base and shortstop.

Cortney Kane of Friendship.  Sophomore pitcher Kane had 19 strikeouts and gave up only five hits and one walk in two games last week. She was also four-for-seven at bat with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Division I:  Brittney Connell of Geneva.  Connell went eight-for-15, a .615 clip last week.  She had seven RBIs and scored  five run s.

Division II:  Erin Brooks of Palmyra-Macedon.  Brooks batted .500 last week.  In the field she had 11 putouts and six assists.

Finger Lakes West

Jessica Baldwin of Harley Allendale Columbia.  The senior catcher batted 5-17 with two doubles, five RBIs and four stolen bases in four games last week.  She also threw out five batters attempting to steal second base.

Mary Bostwick of Oakfield Alabama.  Bostwick, a freshman pitcher, beat Alexander with 17 stirkeouts in seven innings and Elba with 18 strikeouts in 12 innings. She gave up only a total of three earned runs on six hits in both games.

Livingston County

Allie Marean  of Avon and Sarah Ellis of Perry.  Marean, a junior designated hitter, went six-for-10 last week with three home runs and eight RBIs in three games.  Ellis, a senior pitcher, gave up only two runs on seven hits in 21 innings.  She didn’t walk anyone and had 46 strikeouts.

Monroe County

Division I:  Shannon Connors of Brockport. The senior pitcher/shortstop posted a 3-0 record last week.  In 13 innings, she had 13 strikeouts and allowed only two earn runs.  At bat she went eight-for-12 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Division II:  Kelly Schweikert of Spencerport.  The junior pitcher/shortstop is named POTW for second straight week.  Last week, she went 12-for-17 (.710) with an on-base percentage of .810 (16/19).  She had five extra base hits, six RBIs and two stolen bases.

Division III:  Jenn Turner of Batavia and Olivia Piacentini of East Irondequoit-Eastridge.  Turner had her first no-hitter and a .36 ERA for the week, allowing only three hits in three games.  Piacentini, a junior pitcher, was 2-1 this past week including her second career no-hitter with 14 strikeouts.  She also had three hits in eight at-bats with four RBIs including the game winning hit against Batavia.

Jessie Yates of North Rose-Wolcott.  A junior shortstop, Yates went four-for-five (.800) with nine walks for a .918 on-base percentage.  She swiped eight bases, scored nine runs and drove in five runs.

Division I:  Brittney  Borgna of Canandaigua.  Borgna, hit .444 with a home run in the Grand Strand Classic in Myrtle Beach.  At third base she had 12 assists with no errors.  She was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Division II:  Karen Wagner of Penn Yan.  Wagner was also selected to the All-Tournament Team in the Grand Strand Classic at Myrtle Beach.  She hit .500 including a home run, triple, two doubles and seven RBIs.

Dani McMichael of Alfred Almond.  The junior third baseman hit .462 including a home run and a double against three Division I teams.

Wayne County

Leah Cox of Williamson.  A junior pitcher, Cox pitched back-to-back shutouts allowing a total of three hits, while striking out 29 including the first 10 batters against Red Creek.

Allegany County

Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg.  Ingalls, a freshman, is selected for second week in a row.  Last week she hurled two games giving up only two hits with 21 strikeouts and no walks.  At bat she went six for 10 with a triple, two doubles and six RBIs.

Finger Lakes East

Division I:  Christina Reale of Geneva.  Reale was 3-0 last week with 27 strikeouts and no walks.  She also hit .333.

Division II:  Tanya Fedyshyn of Waterloo.  Pitcher Fedyshyn is 3-0 overall, 2-0 in her league.  She is also batting .482 with a .991 on base percentage and four stolen bases.

Finger Lakes West

Lindsey Grace of Honeoye.  Pitcher Grace went 2-0 last week with a one-hitter, 35 strikeouts and three walks.  She had wins over previously-undefeated Bloomfield and a 4-2 DeSales team.

Genesee Region

Livingston County

Rachel Schubert of Livonia.  Schubert, a junior pitcher, had 15 strikeouts and gave up six hits in a 5-2 win over Dansville in her first varsity start.  She also had nine strikeouts in defeating Honeoye Falls-Lima 5-2.

Monroe County

Monroe Division I:  Colleen Curtin of Fairport. The junior catcher batted .714 with three extra-base hits and six RBIs in Fairport’s two wins this past week.

Monroe Division II:  Holly Seidewand of Webster Thomas.  The junior pitcher had a perfect game against Spencerport and shutout Webster Schroeder.  All-in-all she went 3-0 last week with 36 strikeouts and 0.85 ERA.

Monroe Division III:  Olivia Piacentini of East Irondequoit-Eastridge.  Junior pitcher Piacentini pitched 25 innings and gave up only three earned runs with a 0.85 ERA and 53 strikeouts.  At the plate she went 4-8 with two home runs, a triple and five RBIs.

Steuben County

Jennifer Park of Campbell-Savona and Brittney Wilson of Avoca.  Park, a senior pitcher, threw two no-hitters and collected 13, eight and five strikeouts over three games.  She also hit .667 and belted a grand slam.  Wilson, a junior pitcher, had a no-hitter and one-hitter while giving up no runs in four games.  She struck out 13, 11, 11 and seven in those games.

Wayne County

Shannon Smith of Gananda.  A senior pitcher, Smith only allowed a total of six hits over two complete-game wins.  She also hit.390 with a triple and home run.

Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg.  As a pitcher, Ingalls is 4-0 with a .075 ERA.  She was also the leading hitter on the team batting .524, scoring six runs and driving in five runs.

Finger Lakes East

Division I:  Lisa Nazarenko of Victor.  Nazarenko, a junior pitcher, collected 22 strikeouts, had no walks, and gave up no runs in moving her early-season record to 2-0.

Division II:  Melissa Rood of Penn Yan.  Rood, a junior pitcher, had two shutouts, including a one-hitter and gave up only one walk in winning all four games she started.

Finger Lakes West

Morgan Shepard of  Bloomfield and  Lindsey Grace of Honeoye.  Pitcher Shepard, a junior, had three  wins including a  no-hitter,  two-hitter  and  three-hitter.  Pitcher Grace, a sophomore, had three wins including a one-hitter and a three-hitter.

Genesee Region

Kristen Robbins of Wheatland-Chili.  The sophomore pitcher won three games last week with 27 strikeouts in 19 innings.  She also hit .657 with two triples.

Livingston County

Becky Chatt, of Leroy.  Chatt, a junior pitcher, had 11 strikeouts and gave up only two hits  in a 5-0  win over  Keshequa.  At bat, she had three hits in four trips to the plate.

Monroe County

Monroe Division I:  Jenny Petty of Brockport. The senior second baseman was nine for 16 this past week.  In addition she stole a base scored four runs and had two RBI’s.

Monroe Division II:  Bailey Phillips of Greece Arcadia.  The junior pitcher had two complete games including a no-hitter with nine strikeouts on opening day versus Irondequoit.  In addition she struck out eight against Greece Olympia.

Monroe Division III:  Amanda Torrey of Batavia. Torrey was 3-0 on the mound, including a nine-strikeout performance against Eastridge.  She is currently hitting .556 with an on-base percentage of .692.

Private-Parochial

Christina Kelly of Nazareth.  Senior pitcher Kelly went 2-0 last week with 7-0 and  9-0  shutout wins over Irondequoit and Northstar respectively.

Rochester League

Ebony Albritton of Marshall.  The sophomore pitcher/first baseman went six for seven in two games last week with six stolen bases and four runs scored.  She also pitched for Marshall in its 12-7 victory over School of the Arts.

Steuben County

Wayne County

Breanna Burnette of Sodus.  A sophomore pitcher, Burnette had  13 strikeouts in a win against Lyons and  seven strikeouts in a win against East Rochester.
