Sectional Semi-Finals

Class A:

Rush-Henrietta 17, Gates Chili 5

Sophomores Jamie Gruschow and Casey Denk each scored four goals for second-seeded R-H. Junior Ally Keirn added two goals with three assists to lead the Royal Comets (12-6).
Gates Chili finishes 12-6.

Penfield 11, Fairport 3
Emily Thon had two goals and one assist for Penfield. Rachel Petrone and Emily Fink each goals as the Patriots led 8-2 at halftime. Lauren Schoenberger added two goals and an assist.
Penfield (17-1) scored their first goal seven minutes into the game as they clinched in a row holding their opponenets to five goals or less.
The Patriots will face Rush-Henrietta at Irondequoit in the finals, 5 p.m. Thursday.
Fairport finished 10-8.

East Rochester 7, Honeoye Falls-Lima 6
Freshman Jessica Otis scored off a free position shot two minutes into the first overtime period to put East Rochester into the finals for the fifth straight year.
Senior Liz Tice scored two goals and Ashley Moulton added a goal and an assist for the second-seeded Bombers (14-4), who trailed 5-3 at halftime.
Tice scored with 16 seconds left in the game to take a 6-5 lead but Jill Maier scored off a free-position shot with 1.9 seconds remaining for third-seeded HF-L.
“There’s a lot of determination this year to see it through,” Bombers coach Linda Michele said. “It’s frustraitng when you get there year after year and get turned back.”
Second-leading scorer Samantha Cavallaro sat out the game with a knee injury but is expected to play in Thursday’s final against Penn Yan.
“This team is playing without any hoopla. They’re just taking the field and bringing their best game forward,” Michele added.
Sometimes I have kids that vcan be keyed on and I think this team is pretty diverse.
Stephanie McClure made 10 saves and Ashley O’Brien stopped 10 shots for the Cougars (14-5).
