Sharp Shooters Girls Lacrosse Camp created by: |
To all Section V girls’ lacrosse varsity head coaches: US Lacrosse encourages its local and regional chapters to honor the areas top seniors in the senior all star game. Although this has been thought of as a Section V event, the local chapter of US Lacrosse has run the event for many years. Each year, we have had no problems with the boys’ high school coaches coming together to select the region’s most deserving seniors to be showcased in the senior all star game. Last year, there was no girls’ senior all star game for reasons that are unclear to us. This year, we intend to host senior all star games for the girls and boys of Section V. We would like to see the same degree of enthusiasm and support from the girls’ coaches to provide the senior girls with the recognition and respect they deserve. We need the area coaches to act quickly to select the top seniors and get that information back to Nate Snyder, the chapter president at: Nate Snyder Nsnyder@knighthawks.net Below is the basic outline of what must happen from the Section V end of things to make sure we are able to pull off a proper All Star Game: -Selection Committee- This should consist of a minimum of 6 coaches in Section V with the distribution being 2 from Class A, 2 from Class B, and -Once the girls have been picked we will need a full list by name, position, school, and coaches’ contact information. At that time, the coaches for the selected girls will distribute an invitation to the girls from US Lacrosse to participate in the All Star game. -The girls will have to register on the US Lacrosse Rochester Chapter website designating their intent to play in the All Star game along with their full contact information and short biography that will be used for the All Star game program. As you can see, this is a very simple process with the majority of the work being done by the US Lacrosse Rochester Chapter staff. It is very important that the selection committee picks the team and is active in responding back to the US Lacrosse Rochester Chapter staff by May 30. If you have any questions please contact Nate Snyder. The local chapter would like to host a youth clinic prior to the senior all star games. The senior all star games are scheduled for July 11, which should help to avoid the conflict in years past when they were in late June when many girls’ teams were holding their end of year banquet. The members of the local chapter of US Lacrosse feel that there are many deserving players each year, both boys and girls, who should be chosen by their coaches to be honored in the senior all star game. I trust that whatever issues caused last years’ seniors to miss out on this opportunity can be identified and overcome, as we do intend on giving the area girls the support and recognition they clearly deserve. If there is anything the local chapter can do to help make this happen, please let us know. Sincerely, Jeanne L. DelSignore, M.D.
