Regionals - State Quarterfinals

Class A:

6-7-07

Lancaster-VI 14, Rush-Henrietta 11
Caitlin Formato had three goals and two assists and Lindsey Morgan had three goals and an assist for Lancaster (20-2).
Rush-Henrietta took a 3-0 lead early before Lancaster came back to tie the game at 7 at halftime, then scored the first two goals of the second half.
Trailing 13-9, Rush-Henrietta scored with 10 minutes left and against with 1:36 left to pull within 13-11. Lancaster sealed the win with a goal at the one-minute mark.
"I think the deciding factor was we had too many turnovers," coach Tom McMillan said.
Leah Paris scored three goals and Lauren Tompkinson had two goals and an assist for R-H. Vicki Smith had two goals and Ally Keirn had two goals and an assist.
The Royal Comets finish 13-7 after winning their first sectional title in school history.
"I'm still very proud of the girls," McMillan said. "I know it's disappointing for them to lose, but they should be proud of their season."

Class B:

6-7-07

Brighton 18, Hamburg-VI 5
Rachel Ballatori scored a career-high seven goals to lead the Barons. Grace Hilling and Megan Cregan each had two goals and two assists for Brighton (18-1).
Elizabeth Ryan collected seven ground balls and forced two turnovers for the Barons.
The Barons move on to play the winner of Carthage vs. Endicott in the state semifinals on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Cortland State. Carthage advanced to the state finals last year.
Hamburg finished 13-4-1. The Barons defeated Hamburg in the regionals last year.

Class C:

6-7-07

Honeoye Falls-Lima 12, Amherst-VI 4
Kelly Palmer scored four goals and Emily Stankaigas had 11 saves, six coming off free position shots. Jill Maier had two goals and two assists for HFL (14-6).
HFL led 5-0 before Amherst scored, and took a 10-2 lead to the half.
HFL moves on to the state semifinals, where they will play Skaneateles at noon at SUNY Cortland on Friday.
HFL has won 12 of their last 13 games and this marks the first time that they have reached the state semi's in just the program's fifth year.
Amherst finished 16-5.
